Text Box: Do you know a youth or an adult that is or would be interested in shooting? It doesn’t matter what discipline: rifle, pistol, shotgun, muzzleloader. There is a marksmanship program designed to take beginning shooters and build on their skills.
All new shooters start with a basic course in firearm safety. They can then start with easy levels of shooting that build their confidence levels. As they progress through the program, they receive certificates, patches, and medals for each level of expertise they achieve.
There are programs for BB Guns, Air Rifle, Air Pistol, Smallbore (.22), Centerfire, Shotgun, Muzzleloading Rifle, Muzzleloading Pistol, Muzzleloading Shotgun, Handgun, and Bullseye (also handgun). There are new qualification programs for Metallic Silhouette shooting as well. This is an extremely fun program shooting metal targets shaped like animals.
Some of the positions for the shooting are standing using two hands, standing using one hand, kneeling, sitting, and prone (laying down). There are programs for the smallest of youth to the oldest of shooters enjoying our sport. Expert instruction is available to anyone interested in working for Marksmanship Qualification.
Marksmanship training is a great way to maintain accuracy and practice for your favorite hunting season as well. You can build your skills even more by participating in shoulder-to-shoulder matches at the range, or in ‘postal’ matches where you send your target in to a manager who scores your target against others of your age and experience from across the country.
