Local Training Counselor Steve Jeffrey has offered to provide an NRA Instructor Workshop to them for cost of materials so they will be further qualified to take the program and run with it. Many of the Academy’s dorm students are from country’s that require a military obligation after high school, but for the majority of them, they’d never have had their hands on firearms. This provide them with the basic knowledge of gun safety and the basics of shooting. The program will be open to resident dorm students as Text Box: Three instructors with St. Johnsbury Academy, including Club Director Tom Moore, are looking to start a new youth shooting club program. With an application in for a grant from the Friends of NRA program, the three (Tom Moore, Ru Mold, Dale Hinchey) are looking to institute a three-legged program encompassing airguns, smallbore, and shotgun. The grant, if received, will provide funds to purchase firearms, spotting scopes, shooting mats, hearing & eye protection, etc. All three instructors have years of shooting experience Text Box: well as local students.
