Text Box: the former rep.
Steve has been instructing as far back as 1990, starting with the Hunter Education program in Montana and then as an NRA Certified Instructor for firearms. With the need for more instructors in Montana, Steve was prompted by the Montana NRA Field Rep to become a Training Counselor to train new instructors. More recently, Steve has become a Chief Range Safety Officer. He is also VT Certified to teach Hunter Education.
Steve’s position as Field Rep has him covering the Northern New England states of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. He oversees twenty fundraising committees (22 in 2007), and makes visits to local gun clubs and shooting events to help promote the NRA. He is also becoming active in our own High Power and Bullseye shoots.
Text Box: Club Director Steve Jeffrey of St. Johnsbury was selected last year to replace the outgoing National Rifle Association Field Rep Lathan Murphy.
Steve was born and raised here in Northern Vermont, and is a 1980 graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy. While in the Air Force, Steve made it out to Montana where he pretty much settled for the next twenty years.
Steve and his wife Tracy (also a club Director) moved back to St. Johnsbury in 2000. (Tracy is a Montana Native) Steve worked in the computer field before being outsourced a couple years ago. But the timing was right as Steve, a member of the VT Army National Guard, picked up a State Active Duty position at Camp Johnson in Colchester. When the NRA Field Rep position became open, it was suggested he apply for the position by Text Box: We have our own NRA Field Representative. . .

Text Box: Competition heats up on the ranges….

New competitive matches were started this summer, with club members and others from around the state participating.

For those interested in centerfire rifle, a series of High Power Rifle Shoots was scheduled for the last Saturday of the month during the summer.  The last match of the year was held on October 28th.  This has proved to be a great time, with great competition.  One shooter came over from St. Albans to participate.  About twelve shooters were there every month.

Not to let the rifle crowd go it alone, a series of Bullseye Pistol shoots were set up for the first and third Wednesday evenings of the month.  The last shoot of the year was October 4th.  With not much advertising, a core group of six or so showed up for every match.

Look for MUCH more activity from both the High Power and the Bullseye shooters in the coming year.
